Job Summary:
The Registered Staff Pharmacist will perform clinical and professional pharmaceutical work in the compounding and dispensing of drugs and IV supplies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises and trains pharmacist interns.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepares, fills, and compounds drug and IV orders by physicians and other authorized staff.
- Stores and preserves biologicals, vaccines, and serums.
- Checks incoming shipments and arranges for their storage.
- Maintains narcotic inventory and other records such as inventory, prescriptions, tax-free alcohol, and quality assurance.
- Participates in in-service training.
- Charges patients' medicines.
- Fills bulk IVs and IV piggyback solutions and chemotherapy.
- Distributes drugs to the floors, dispenses outdated drugs, and runs the pharmacy cart.
- Answers questions of and dispenses drug information to other hospital and medical staff.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy required.
- Current registration to practice pharmacy in the state required.
- One year of previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and bending.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
