Job Summary:
The Vocational Rehabilitation Job Developer will assist vocational rehabilitation clients with job searches and placement.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to identify job openings and to secure employment and proper vocational training opportunities for clients.
- Evaluates and understands each clients background, skills, and interests.
- Matches potential job openings or training programs with clients.
- Consults with appropriate contact or employer to discuss job openings and candidates.
- Coaches candidates for interviews and entry into the workforce including providing background information regarding potential employers and the specific job.
- Consults with clients and employers after interviews to gather feedback and maximize placement opportunities.
- Increases contacts in the community through active participation in various associations.
- Reviews reputable websites, local newspapers, and statewide business papers to identify new employers entering the area.
- Presents the work of the rehabilitation agency to civic groups and writes articles about the role of the agency in job development for local media.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and negotiation skills.
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state HR related laws and regulations affecting talent acquisition.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Social Services, Business, Human Services, or related field required.
- At least three years of related experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
- SHRMs Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
