Job Summary:

The Vocational Rehabilitation Job Developer will assist vocational rehabilitation clients with job searches and placement.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to identify job openings and to secure employment and proper vocational training opportunities for clients.
  • Evaluates and understands each clients background, skills, and interests.
  • Matches potential job openings or training programs with clients.
  • Consults with appropriate contact or employer to discuss job openings and candidates.
  • Coaches candidates for interviews and entry into the workforce including providing background information regarding potential employers and the specific job.
  • Consults with clients and employers after interviews to gather feedback and maximize placement opportunities.
  • Increases contacts in the community through active participation in various associations.
  • Reviews reputable websites, local newspapers, and statewide business papers to identify new employers entering the area.
  • Presents the work of the rehabilitation agency to civic groups and writes articles about the role of the agency in job development for local media.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify strengths and weaknesses.
  • Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and negotiation skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state HR related laws and regulations affecting talent acquisition.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Social Services, Business, Human Services, or related field required.
  • At least three years of related experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • SHRMs Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
