SHRM Responds to OSHA’s Heat Injury Rule
SHRM recently submitted comments to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regarding its proposed rule about Heat Injury and Illness Prevention in Outdoor and Indoor Work Settings. In its comments, SHRM expressed its support for OSHA’s efforts to ensure a safe working environment for all. However, SHRM is concerned that the proposed rule could lead to significant compliance burdens for businesses and cause confusion for both employers and employees.
The proposed rule was issued Aug. 30, 2024. It is unclear if President-elect Donald Trump will support the rule after taking office on Jan. 20. SHRM will continue to provide updates on the heat injury standard as appropriate.
