Job Summary:
The Environmental Restoration Planner will conduct field and laboratory testing to identify environmental, health, and safety hazards, and advises on and assists with restoration of damaged sites.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspects public places and private businesses to ensure no environmental, health, or safety hazards exist.
- Collects and analyzes air, soil, and water samples to evaluate environmental conditions and restoration needs.
- Identifies and measures pollutant levels in samples collected.
- Uses equipment to monitor pollution levels.
- Produces reports that detail relevant test results.
- Sets schedules and budgets for environmental restoration projects.
- Issues fines to businesses, individuals, or other organizations that violate environmental or health regulations.
- Assists businesses or organizations in developing plans to clean up and restore contaminated areas or sites.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
- Extensive knowledge of environmental restoration techniques and strategies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field required.
- Three years of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
