Job Summary:
The Telemarketer will make phone calls to solicit sales, donations, or participation in surveys.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Uses prepared scripts to persuade individuals to purchase a particular product or service, donate to a charitable cause, or participate in a survey.
- Modifies scripts to better address the interests, needs, or concerns of customers.
- Answers questions from and provides information to call recipients. For example, describing products and services from script, explaining how the charitable organization will use the donation, or how the survey will be used.
- Gathers and records customer information such as names, addresses, and payment methods.
- Compiles telephone numbers and names of potential customers from a variety of sources including telephone directories, product or magazine reply cards, and lists purchased from other organizations.
- Follows up on initial sales contacts via telephone, email, or other correspondence.
- Maintains records of contacts, accounts, and orders.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent sales and customer service skills.
- Pleasant telephone manner.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn software used for recording information and processing orders.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
