Job Summary:
The Vocational Evaluation Specialist (VES) will conduct comprehensive vocational evaluations and make vocational recommendations. The VES will work with individuals with disabilities and serve hospital patients and clients of community agencies and rehabilitation practitioners. The VES will interface with other therapists and rehabilitation-team members and relate positively with referring sources.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assesses patient/client aptitudes, interests, abilities, and limitations using work samples, real and/or simulated work tasks, psychometric testing, and behavioral observations.
- Administers, scores, records, interprets, and reports on accumulative work-evaluation data.
- Prepares written evaluation reports and case-recording documents.
- Assists individuals in gaining insight into their roles in establishing vocational plans.
- Participates in hospital, patient evaluations and team meetings.
- Conducts formal staffing with community referring agents.
- Coordinates referrals to community resources and performs follow-up service.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with rehabilitation consumers and professionals representing divergent vocational assessment needs.
- Ability to organize, plan, and implement individualized evaluations.
- Ability to work with individuals and small groups.
- Knowledge of evaluation systems, human behavior, occupational information, and employment markets helpful.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in vocational evaluation, special education, behavioral psychology, or related field required; Master's degree in vocational evaluation preferred.
- Experience working with head-injured persons preferred.
- Volunteer or paid work experience involving direct contact with individuals of diverse disabilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
