Job Summary:
The Hearing Aid Specialist will select and fit hearing aids for customers, administer and interpret hearing tests, assess hearing instrument efficacy, take ear impressions and prepare, design, and modify ear molds.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs basic screening procedures and hearing tests such as pure tone screening, otoacoustic screening, immittance screening, screening of ear canal status using otoscope, air conduction, bone conduction, or speech audiometry tests.
- Diagnoses and treats hearing or related disabilities under the direction of an audiologist. Assists audiologists in performing aural procedures such as real ear measurements, speech audiometry, auditory brainstem responses, electronystagmography, and cochlear implant mapping.
- Maintains or repairs hearing aids or other communication devices.
- Trains clients to use hearing aids or other augmentative communication devices.
- Creates or modifies impressions for earmolds and hearing aid shells.
- Reads literature, talks with colleagues, and participates in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in audiology.
- Demonstrates assistive listening devices (ALDs) to clients.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- General knowledge of hearing impairment and hearing aid technology.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to use active listening skills, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree required.
- Completion of related training program.
- Appropriate state license or certification is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
