Job Summary:
The Package Design Engineer will design packaging for the companys finished products, ensuring adequate protection of the product and accurate and attractive display for marketing purposes.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with staff from marketing, manufacturing, graphics, and shipping departments to optimize package design.
- Oversees the design of the finished product packaging, emphasizing marketability and cost efficiency.
- Tests packaging systems and components for new and existing products.
- Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to develop point-of-sale displays for products and packaging.
- Researches and introduces prototype packaging using materials such as folding cartons, plastics, and corrugated shipping containers.
- Drafts specifications for new packing materials that will adequately protect finished products.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of packaging material and design.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Materials Engineering or related field required.
- Five years of experience in package design preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
