Marlon Sullivan is currently Chief Human Resources Officer & Senior Vice President Communications at Marathon Petroleum Corporation, one of the nation’s largest oil refining systems and marketers of renewable fuels. In this capacity, he leads all talent, people, culture and communications efforts in support of business operations, enterprise transformation efforts and new growth opportunities – enabling affordable, reliable energy that accelerates life’s possibilities.
Previously, Sullivan was Chief Human Resources Officer at Johnson Controls, a world leader in smart building technology, where he led all Human Resources elements for its 100,000 employees, including the digital automation of its employee experience and business transformation.
Sullivan brings a wealth of experience, having joined Johnson Controls from Delta Air Lines, where he was Senior Vice President – Human Resources. In this capacity, he led a team of HR specialists responsible for compensation, benefits, employee wellness, payroll, EEO compliance, employee service delivery and workforce analytics.
During his years of service at Abbot Laboratories, Sullivan held several Vice President level roles in multiple countries, including the areas of total rewards, HR mergers & acquisitions, talent management, learning & development, equity & inclusion, talent acquisition and HR business partner.
Sullivan joined Abbott Laboratories from Home Depot, where he held several Director level roles of increasing responsibility in the areas of HR strategy, workforce analytics and staffing operations.
He started his career with McKinsey & Company, where he was a business consultant in roles of increasing responsibility. Sullivan earned his bachelor’s degree in Corporate Finance from Morehouse College and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
