Sean N. Woodroffe is the Chief People, Communications and Enterprise Services Officer at Lincoln Financial, responsible for all aspects of human resources (HR), including talent management and development, employee experience, compensation, benefits and wellness, HR technology and operations, HR business partnering, belonging and community impact, and corporate responsibility. Woodroffe also oversees the company's corporate communications function, which includes internal communications and public relations, as well as several enterprise services functions including facilities and procurement. He reports to CEO Ellen Cooper and is a member of the company's Senior Management Committee.
Woodroffe has more than 35 years of experience in HR for financial services institutions, including insurance, wealth and asset management, commercial banking and investment banking. Prior to joining Lincoln Financial, he served as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer at TIAA, where he was responsible for HR and internal communications for the organization's global workforce. Woodroffe has also served as Chief People Officer at National Life Group. Prior to that, he served as the U.S. Head of HR and Associate Communications at Sun Life Financial U.S., and he has also held senior executive HR roles at the United Bank for Africa and Financial Guaranty Insurance Company. Woodroffe started his career and spent more than 18 years at Merrill Lynch, where he last served as First Vice President and Head of International HR, based in London. He also led HR for Merrill Lynch's Japan Wealth Management business unit, based in Tokyo.
Woodroffe is an active leader in the community and currently serves on the boards of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey and U.S. Soccer Foundation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Shaw University.
