Nominee for EEOC Seat Brings DOJ and Education Experience
President Donald Trump nominated Brittany Bull Panuccio to fill the vacancy left by Keith Sonderling on the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Panuccio currently serves as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Appellate Division at the U.S. Department of Justice, where she handles both civil and criminal appeals in the 11th Circuit. Her background includes clerkships with federal appellate judges and prior service at the U.S. Department of Education, where she co-authored the 2018 Title IX Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and advised senior leadership.
If confirmed, Panuccio would join Acting Chair Andrea Lucas — who was also recently renominated for a full five-year term — and Commissioner Kalpana Kotagal, restoring a quorum at the EEOC. Once the EEOC regains quorum, it is expected to begin issuing new regulations and guidance aligned with Trump’s recent executive orders. The EEOC may also revisit existing rules, including the final regulations implementing the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and the commission’s latest harassment guidance.
