SHRM Supports AmeriCorps on Capitol Hill
On Sept. 18, SHRM proudly joined AmeriCorps for a day of advocacy on Capitol Hill, underscoring the organization's critical role in preparing the workforce of tomorrow. Together with AmeriCorps leaders and partners, SHRM staff met with congressional offices to urge continued funding for AmeriCorps and to highlight how its programs create meaningful pathways to employment and skills development for people from all backgrounds.
As part of the day's activities, SHRM engaged with several delegations, including:
Sen. Dave McCormick, R-Pa.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.
Rep. Chuck Edwards, R-N.C.
Rep. Lucy McBath, D-Ga.
Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C.
House Minority Whip Rep. Katherine Clark, D-Mass.
Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C.
These conversations focused on the unique value AmeriCorps brings to communities nationwide: providing participants with hands-on experience, professional development, and career-ready skills while strengthening local economies and supporting national growth.
Supporting AmeriCorps aligns with SHRM's broader commitment to policies and programs that strengthen workforce pipelines. By investing in AmeriCorps, lawmakers help ensure that employers across sectors can access a skilled, job-ready talent pool — and that workers gain the tools and experience they need to thrive in the workplace.
