Job Summary:
The Auto Glass Installer will repair and replace damaged, broken, or missing auto glass.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Safely removes and disposes of old glass.
- Cleans and prepares the perimeters of area where glass was removed.
- Installs replacement glass, ensuring proper seal and waterproofing.
- Ensures safe handling of machinery and chemical compounds.
- Documents and maintains records of quotes, invoices, services, and warranties.
- Repairs or replaces hardware or controls for moving parts, such as windows and sunroofs, as needed.
- Orders replacement parts as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of automotive glass replacement.
- Thorough understanding of materials involved.
- Thorough understanding of glass temperance, glass-cutting techniques, and measuring tools.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Computer skills needed to complete records or logs.
- Ability to learn more advanced skills.
- Ability to operate standard tools.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of auto glass installation training program or three-year apprenticeship.
- Valid drivers license.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing to make repairs
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Must be able to perform jobs in a variety of weather.
- Must have necessary strength and dexterity to operate standard tools and lift large pieces of glass.
