The Electric Line Installer will install and maintain electrical powerlines and cables.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Installs electrical powerlines and runs lines between utility poles, towers, and buildings.
- Builds utility poles and digs underground trenches to carry cables.
- Inspects and tests powerlines and related equipment.
- Activates service for customers.
- Determines whether transformers, voltage regulators, switches, or other devices are defective.
- Uses truck-mounted bucket lifts or climbs poles to access powerlines or equipment.
- Operates power tools and equipment when installing or repairing lines, towers, and utility poles.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of powerline installation and repair of electrical systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in electrical systems diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent mechanical skills.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship required.
- Current commercial drivers license (CDL) and clean driving record required.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to climb utility poles and work at great heights.
- Physically able to work with heavy tools and equipment at heights.
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds at a time to carry heavy cable.
