Job Summary:
The Exterminator will use pest control techniques to exterminate pests in outdoor and indoor environments such as houses, offices, and schools.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Observes the property and consults with customers to identify pests.
- Determines best method to exterminate pests using either pesticides or traps.
- Sprays chemical pesticides and spreads granular pesticides in problem areas.
- Places and sets mechanical traps to remove rodents or larger animals.
- Posts warning signs for areas exposed to chemical pesticides or dangerous gases.
- Cleans affected areas as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of pest management techniques and pest biology.
- Ability to read material safety sheets and follow manufacturers directions for handling dangerous chemicals.
- Knowledge of safe application of pesticides.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiar with laws regulating pest control techniques.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience preferred.
- State pest control license required.
Physical Requirements:
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Able to work in areas infested with insects, rodents, or other animals.
- Able to work in attics, roof tops, crawl spaces, or other dirty places.
