Job Summary:
The General Supervisor, Inspection and Testing will oversee and facilitate manufacturing inspection and testing functions to ensure manufacturing objectives are met.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Hires and trains manufacturing inspection and testing staff.
- Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of departmental staff.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supports the organizations goal of improving manufacturing quality and efficiency by conducting or assigning inspections, assessing the results and the manufacturing process, and proposing improvements based on the findings.
- Develops and maintains systems to report test results and findings to superiors and stakeholders.
- Monitors production costs; continually seeks areas and processes that can be streamlined to produce cost savings.
- Identifies and recommends new manufacturing equipment or techniques that could improve efficiency and quality.
- Coordinates with Quality Engineers and Planners to ensure manufacturing issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
- Extensive knowledge of inspection and testing principles and techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
- Previous experience as an inspection supervisor required.
- Completion of relevant management training or seminars preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
