Job Summary:
The Recycling Worker will sort and process recyclable materials.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Directs drivers and/or customers to loading and unloading areas and assists with loading and unloading.
- Separates materials into groups based on the material makeup of products.
- Ensures safe handling of hazardous or potentially dangerous materials including glass and metals.
- Operates equipment necessary for recycling such as a baler or a forklift.
- Cleans and maintains recycling equipment and facility.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift and other recycling equipment.
- Ability to follow rules and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to adhere to safety guidelines.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid drivers license required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and carrying materials.
- Must be able to perform physical labor including reaching, bending, grasping, pulling, climbing, and lifting.
- Must be able to perform work outdoors in all types of weather.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds at a time.
