March 15, 2023

ALEXANDRIA—The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has announced Lars N. Minns will be joining its Executive Council effective March 15, 2023.

The Executive Council, which is made up of the world's top CHROs, luminaries and academics—guides cutting-edge research, drives meaningful membership initiatives and provides insights on emerging business strategies.  It explores the most pressing issues facing the workplace and societies of tomorrow, providing the SHRM Executive Network with collective guidance on emerging strategies that impact business performance.

Minns is currently the chief HR officer for Mercedes-Benz North America with responsibility for the U.S. and Canada. He has been with the organization since March 2015.

Minns leads the organization in designing, implementing and executing HR strategies that directly align with the company's strategic objectives for the sales, marketing and distribution of passenger cars, vans and parts in the U.S. and Canada. Under his leadership, the organization is undergoing one of the largest transformations in the automotive industry's history in its pursuit to be the most desired electric luxury brand in North America.

"I am delighted to welcome Lars to the Executive Council," said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, SHRM president and chief executive officer. "He brings an incredible amount of leadership experience, perspective, knowledge and a deep understanding of the HR profession. His expertise and insight will be incredibly beneficial to the council and its work to collectively elevate and evolve the HR profession and effectively drive change in the workplace on the most pressing issues."

"I am honored for the opportunity to serve on the Executive Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, an organization that has been a constant for me and so many others over the years," Minns said. "I look forward to supporting the council's efforts in providing valuable insights to HR professionals around the world and fostering a collaborative and inclusive community within our practice."

Prior to joining Mercedes-Benz, Minns served as the senior manager of talent acquisition for The Home Depot's At Home Services, commonly referred to as its "Do It for Me" business. He led his team in executing talent acquisition strategies for the company's fastest-growing business segment. Minns spent 10 years with The Home Depot, holding roles of increasing responsibility.

The SHRM Executive Council includes:

  • Marissa Andrada, former Chief Diversity, Inclusion and People Officer, Chipotle Mexican Grill
  • Peter Cappelli, George W. Taylor Professor of Management, and Director, Center for Human Resources at Wharton School
  • Michael Fraccaro, Chief People Officer at Mastercard
