He has over 30 years of human resources experience across public and private sectors, including government contracting and nonprofits. After starting his career in accounting, Dooley found his calling in HR and has spent over two decades supporting professionals at SHRM. In his current role, he guides a team of Knowledge Advisors dedicated to helping members navigate complex workplace challenges. Dooley holds SHRM specialty credentials in Talent Acquisition, Workplace Investigations, California Law, People Analytics, and People Manager Qualification (PMQ). Driven by curiosity, he prioritizes lifelong learning and seeks practical ways to make a positive impact.

Theresa Adams
Theresa Adams, SHRM-SCP, is a seasoned human resources professional with more than 30 years of experience supporting organizations across manufacturing, retail, and nonprofit sectors. As a Lead Specialist at SHRM, she is known for her pragmatic, results-oriented approach, delivering both tactical and strategic guidance to members through the Ask an HR Advisor service. In her current role, Adams leads a team of Knowledge Advisors and is recognized for her collaborative style and strong foundation in HR best practices. She is passionate about empowering others to achieve meaningful business outcomes through effective human capital management. Adams holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland and SHRM specialty credentials in California HR Law, Talent Acquisition, U.S. Employment Immigration, and Workplace Investigations, along with the Veterans at Work Certificate and People Manager Qualification (PMQ). Outside of work, she enjoys kayaking and hiking outdoors.

Liz Petersen
Liz Petersen, SHRM-SCP, is the Knowledge Operations Manager at SHRM. With over 30 years of HR experience and a master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Petersen brings extensive expertise to managing knowledge operations and training for the Ask an HR Advisor service. Before joining SHRM, she served as an in-house and outsourced HR manager for small and medium-sized organizations across industries including technology, engineering, hospitality, manufacturing, healthcare, and construction. She has also presented at SHRM national, state, and chapter events, as well as webcasts and podcasts. Petersen resides in Oceanside, California, and enjoys spending time at the beach, swimming with her dog, golfing, and painting.
