James J. McDonald, Jr. is managing partner of the Irvine, California office of the national labor and employment law firm of Fisher & Phillips LLP. Jim has advised and defended California employers for more than 25 years. He is author of California Employment Law: An Employer's Guide, published by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and he teaches labor and employment law in the Human Resources Management Program at the University of California, Irvine. Jim received his law degree cum laude from Georgetown University. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2007 and was named Best Lawyers' "Lawyer of the Year" for Employment Law (Management) in Orange County from 2015 through 2017. He is a frequent speaker at SHRM's Annual conference and at SHRM chapters around California.
