Job Summary:
The Electro-Neurodiagnostic Technologist will use the diagnostic testing procedures of an electroencephalograph machine to measure the electrical activity of the brain, the spinal cord, the peripheral nerves, and the somatosensory systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepares patients for medical procedures by obtaining medical histories and explaining purposes and procedures of the tests to be performed.
- Conducts electroencephalographic testing to evaluate patterns formed by the brain to assist in the diagnosis of epilepsy, cardiovascular disease, or other brain lesions.
- Assists with nerve conduction studies to evaluate electrical potentials from the peripheral nerve.
- Conducts polysomnograms to identify disfunction in sleep/wake cycles and breathing disorders or arrhythmias during sleep.
- Conducts electronystagmograms to measure the electrical potentials from the eyes to determine between inner ear disfunctions and central nervous system involvement.
- Oversees proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Keeps proper records of tests, results, diagnosis, and subsequent patient treatment.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Good communication skills to deal with both patients and other health care professionals.
- Good analytic skills to gather, interpret, and record test results accurately.
- Ability to work independently and with members of the health care team.
Education and Experience:
- A one-year certificate from a program accredited by the American Society of Electro-neurodiagnostic Technologists required. Preference will be given to candidates with an Associate's degree from a similarly accredited two-year program.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- May require extended periods of standing and bending.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
