Job Summary:
The Mold Maker will create, adapt, and adjust molds used in cast manufacturing.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Constructs, adapts, and modifies molds for plastic injection molding, die cast tooling, metal stamping, and other molding operations.
- Creates initial molds based on specifications from design team, blueprints, or schematics.
- Uses various measuring and gauging tools to perform necessary inspections before, during, and after molding operations.
- Sets up equipment based on mold requirements, materials, and tolerances.
- Executes production runs; conducts quality control testing before mold enters production cycle.
- Maintains knowledge of materials and products.
- Assists machinists and millwrights with injection molding process and equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of machinery and mold creation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough understanding of applicable safety rules.
Education and Experience:
- Successful completion of a formal apprenticeship program, technical school training program, or company-provided training program required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Superior manual dexterity, muscular control, and delicate touch necessary to complete precision work without damaging valuable molds.
- Visual acuity to read blueprints and perform visual inspections.
