Real Estate Appraiser




Job Summary:

The Real Estate Appraiser will estimate the value of property; appraisals may be conducted for sale, purchase, or refinance; for tax assessment; for investment reasons, or for other needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly inspects, assesses, measures, photographs, and documents the interior and exterior conditions, features, and details of properties.
  • Assesses the value and condition of additional amenities and improvements such as swimming pools, garages, and other structures.
  • Researches the market value of comparable properties in the area to guide the determination of the value of the property being appraised.
  • Records health and/or safety code violations.
  • Creates a diagram or other recording of the propertys layout.
  • Drafts and prepares detailed appraisal reports.
  • Collaborates with real estate agents to determine clients asking prices or offers.
  • Maintains knowledge of real estate market conditions in the area.
  • Adheres to professional code of ethics and rules of conduct.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in Appraisal or Business required; Bachelors degree highly preferred.
  • Current state license as certified real estate appraiser required.
  • Three to five years related experience, preferably as a licensed realtor, required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to traverse properties to visually inspect all areas of real estate including basements, attics, and crawlspaces.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
