Michael Payne

HR Coordinator, Vanderbilt University

Michael Payne is honored to join the HR Tomorrow Leadership Program as he continues building a people-centered and strategic career in human resources. As an HR Coordinator on the Workforce Optimization and Strategy team at Vanderbilt University, he supports a range of key initiatives, from workforce planning to employee experience, and is passionate about using HR as a tool for organizational change.

Drawn to both the human and strategic sides of the discipline, Michael is eager to expand his leadership skills and deepen his understanding of the evolving HR landscape. He sees this program as a unique opportunity to contribute to the future of the field, connect with other emerging leaders, and bring innovative ideas back to his organization.

Michael is committed to building workplaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. He believes representation matters and aspires to be the kind of leader who creates equitable opportunities and fosters a strong sense of belonging for others. With a background in communication, leadership, and employee development, Michael is excited to be part of the next generation of HR changemakers.
