SHRMLabs Opens Applications for Its Second Annual WorkplaceTech Accelerator Program

The WorkplaceTech Accelerator assists in the scaling of early-stage workplace-focused tech startups to solve critical workplace challenges

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—Today, SHRMLabs, a Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) subsidiary, launches the application for its second annual WorkplaceTech Accelerator program. The accelerator program, which began in 2022, assists in the scaling and growth of startup companies focused on the workplace and the future of work technologies. SHRMLabs, a thought leader in the HR and workplace technology space, founded the WorkplaceTech Accelerator to elevate HR further and solve present-day challenges and gaps existing in the workplace. The application window is open until Jan. 16, 2023, before the cohort convenes on March 28, 2023.

The WorkplaceTech Accelerator is a 12-week program that immerses startup participants in the HR market and the needs of workers and the workplace. The program includes in-person and virtual events where startup participants can gain business development exposure, learn about the HR field and perfect their products. Upon graduation, participants will become SHRMLabs program alumni, which comes with the ability to access SHRM and SHRMLabs' network and gives them greater visibility amongst the HR community.

"We developed the WorkplaceTech Accelerator to address the existing disparity between HR practitioners and future-of-work innovators," said Guillermo Corea, managing director of SHRMLabs. "Initiatives like the WorkplaceTech Accelerator help bridge the divide by helping companies truly understand the needs of HR and cater their solutions to workers and the workplace."

Members of the WorkplaceTech Accelerator cohort will have access to several benefits once admitted. Top leaders and executives in the field lead the program. Each startup will have a curated advisory council based on its needs and connection to potential user testing and feedback. Each startup will also receive a $160,000 equity investment from SHRM, with potential additional investments dependent on milestones. And finally, two individuals from each startup will have their travel expenses paid to attend the SHRM Annual Conference & Expo 2023, and their startups will each be given a sponsored booth in the Expo hall.

The WorkplaceTech Accelerator is a developmental program unlike any other in the world of work. SHRM's role as the voice of all things work, workers and the workplace, combined with its SHRM member network, competitively positions these startup participants to serve their customers.
