CVS Health is the winner of the 2017 HRM Impact Award, which recognizes organizations with outstanding evidence-based HR management practices. The award also promotes successful HR practices and initiatives that have been measured through data-driven analyses.

The international honor is given by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the SHRM Foundation, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and the SIOP Foundation. CVS Health was recognized during the second day of SHRM's three-day Volunteer Leaders' Summit in Washington, D.C. CVS Health received the award at SIOP's Leading Edge Consortium in October.

CVS Health's winning project, the Customer Care Pre-Hire Screening Assessment, is a custom-built, multimedia pre-hire screening assessment with a realistic job preview that integrates the company's applicant tracking system. Post-implementation studies have shown that the assessment for its call center workers has quickly and dramatically lowered costs, improved applicant reactions, and increased new hire performance on a variety of operational outcomes such as reduced hold times, call transfers, and call backs. These early performance gains have led to greater efficiency, a better caller experience, and increased profitability.
Organizations are invited to submit their most effective evidence-based HR practice or initiative to SHRM and SIOP for recognition. Applications are judged on the following:

  • Financial or operational impact on the business or enterprise.
  • People impact on employees and teams.
  • Scientific impact on the research and practice of HR, industrial-organizational psychology, and/or management.
  • Quality of evidence in support of the financial, people and scientific impacts.

The HRM Impact Award winner receives a plaque and is recognized in media outlets highlighting the award and the innovative HRM practice or initiative. Submissions for the 2018 HRM Impact Award will open Feb. 1, 2018, and remain open through April 30.
