Job Summary:

The Court Administrator will oversee and manage the various administrative functions of the court.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hires and trains court employees and support staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manages, oversees, and directs the daily operations of the court system.
  • Assists with and plans for implementation of new technologies and procedures to improve court efficiency including those affecting filing, recordkeeping, and case management.
  • Develops and recommends policies and procedures to address needs of the court system and to ensure efficient and effective use of judicial resources.
  • Collaborates with judges to draft and administer the annual budget for the court.
  • Organizes and distributes court calendars, schedules, and judges travel itineraries.
  • Oversees the administration of jury operations.
  • Oversees and manages court accounting procedures.
  • Acts as a liaison for the court with the public regarding the courts activities.
  • Collaborates with technology staff to ensure all necessary equipment is working properly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand established clerical procedures, recordkeeping, and filing systems.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment and to apply best practices of office management.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential records and information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in related field such as Public Administration, Business Administration, or Judicial Administration, required.
  • Three to five years of related legal, judicial, or government administration experience required with management experience highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
