Membership Advisory Council (MAC)

The Membership Advisory Council (MAC) serves as an interface between the volunteer leaders and the SHRM Board of Directors. The MAC is composed of one elected representative from each of the Regional Councils. The MAC provides input from the membership through the regional councils to the board and feedback from the board to the membership, back through the regional councils; and provides operational input to SHRM to ensure optimum service/support to and from the volunteer leadership.

  • Laraine currently serves as the Director of Human Resources with Food Sciences Corporation, a developer and manufacturer of nutritional food, where she helps folks lead their best life possible.
  • She has over 30 years of experience in human resources including a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania with dual concentrations in Organizational Management, and Industrial Relations and Human Resources Management. 
  • She has served as an instructor of the SHRM Learning System for Rowan University since 2004.  
  • Her volunteer work through SHRM started in 1997 when she joined SHRM and her local chapter, Tri-State HRMA.  She has served on the Tri-State HRMA Conference Committee and served as conference co-chair from 2003-2006.  This then led to her role as chapter Treasurer, Vice President, President, Immediate Past President and current role as an active member of the Board of Directors and part of the Succession Planning Committee.
  • From 2007 to 2011, as chapter Vice President and then as chapter President, she participated in the Garden State Council.  Since 2011, she has been the Facilities Co-Chair for the annual state conference for about 700 attendees, sponsors and speakers.  In 2013 she was elected Director Elect and served as State Director from 2014 through 2016. 
  • In 2009 she was selected as Delaware Valley HR Person of the Year, an award coordinated and presented by seven participating SHRM chapters in the Delaware Valley, recognizing outstanding work in the field of human resources.  
  • Laraine sees herself as a business professional with a specialized knowledge in human resources. She enjoys participating in conversations that further the profession and those engaged in it.  She has built her career and her life on a foundation of trust, integrity and open communication.  She thinks strategically with a focus on both long and short-term perspectives and tries not to lose sight of the effect decisions have on others.

  • Jeff is the Senior Director of Talent Acquisition for Alorica, a global business processing outsourcing company with over 100,000 employees worldwide.  He leads a dynamic team of approximately 150 recruiting professionals hiring nearing 60,000 people a year.
  • He has over 20 years of recruitment experience in corporate and agency settings.  Jeff received his degree in Journalism from University of North Carolina in Chapel and a Certificate in HR Management from Duke University.
  • Jeff has served in many different roles for Raleigh-Wake Human Resources Management Association including President, SHRM Foundation Director, VP of Community, and Treasurer.  On the NCSHRM State Council he has served as Awards Director, District Director and State Council Director.  Some of his accomplishments include creating the NC HR Hall of Fame, co-creating the Pinnacle award-winning HR on Call, winning the District Director of the Year award and making sure NCSHRM and RWHRMA are in the top of the SHRM Foundation donor lists.  He recently joined the Foundation's Leadership Circle.  Jeff shares his time with chapter leaders across NC and the southeast region as well as volunteering with several student groups.  He is a Special Expertise Panel Member for Talent Acquisition as well as a member of the Association of Talent Acquisition Professionals.
  • He volunteers his time on various other Boards including the St. Leo University Regional Council in VA, the City of Asheville Recreation Board, and Wake County Council on Fitness and Health.

  • Dr. Denise Montoya serves as the Director of Human Resources/Payroll and is a contingent faculty member for New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU). She is the President of P.S. People Strategy providing strategic planning, design and implementation of learning cultures, and human resources consulting services to a wide range of organizations. Dr. Montoya serves as the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Membership Advisory Council (MAC) Representative for the Southwest Central Region. She served as the Director for the Society for Human Resources Management New Mexico Council (SHRM NM). She served on the boards for both SHRM NM and the Human Resources Management Association (HRMA) of New Mexico. Dr. Montoya was recognized by Albuquerque Business First as a Women of Influence Honoree in 2015 and was awarded the HR Volunteer of the Year by the HRMA of New Mexico presented by SHRM NM in 2011. 
  • Dr. Montoya is a skilled leader in developing and implementing integrated strategic plans, cultivating the human performance programs necessary to achieve sustainable, scalable, successful results. She possesses almost three decades of human resource management and operational experience, focused on creating and sustaining an effective values-based culture, organizational planning and design, recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, employee development and training, peak productivity, quality initiatives, labor relations and collective bargaining, health and wellness programs, information systems, and policies and procedures. Dr. Montoya served as the former Executive Director of Human Resources (HR) with Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) and former Director of HR Client Services at the University of New Mexico (UNM). She is an accomplished faculty member and speaker instructing courses at NMHU, CNM, UNM Continuing Education, and ITT Technical Institute. 
  • Dr. Montoya achieved her Ph.D. in Organization, Information, and Learning Sciences at UNM. She is a published co-author for topics including a Model of Shared Leadership as well as Building Trust in Virtual Teams.

  • Pat is a senior level human resource executive whose most recent experience encompasses operational and HR roles within large corporations, as well as developing and emerging organizations in the hospitality and gaming industry.  
  • She offers demonstrated abilities in creating HR departments for start-up companies, as well as established businesses.  Areas of expertise include strategic planning, change management, designing and delivering leadership training programs, as well as developing standard operating plans for companies and HR Departments.

  • With 20 years of experience in the luxury hospitality field, Mandy has led the human resource departments of some of the most beautiful resorts in Colorado and Hawaii, including her current role as Director of Human Resources for Classic Resorts Limited on Maui and the big island of Hawaii.  
  • Mandy is the 2014 recipient of the SHRM Foundation Susan R. Meisinger Fellowship for Graduate Study. On July 15, 2017, she graduated from Walden University earning a Master of Science in Human Resource Management with a concentration on integrating functional and strategic human resource management.
  • Her work experience as an HR practitioner encompasses leadership roles for organizations with less than one hundred employees to large organizations with several thousand employees.  Mandy has led the HR department of organizations in mature, start-up, and rapid-growth business cycles.  She has experience working for large publicly held companies, including Vail Resorts, Inc., where she worked independently at the local level; serving as a member of the corporate HR leadership team.  Her work for privately owned companies includes roles where she partnered with a professional employer organization (PEO) to roles where everything HR, payroll, and benefits are accomplished internally.
  • She has held several SHRM volunteer leadership roles within three different chapters and two states, including chapter president for High Country HR Association (HCHRA), public relations director for Boulder Area HR Association (BAHRA) and Colorado State Council Certification Director. Mandy has served on the SHRM Hawaii board of directors as the Maui District Educational Foundation Representative, State Council Membership Co-Director, Vice President Supporting the Professional (STP), State Council Co-Director and currently serves as State Council Director.
