HR Florida State Council Hosts Record-Breaking Legislative Conference and Advocacy Day
HR professionals from across Florida gathered on March 27 for SHRM’s HR Florida State Council’s Legislative Conference and Advocacy Day, engaging directly with lawmakers to discuss key workplace issues impacting the state’s workforce. Following robust programming and insightful conference content, attendees had the opportunity to advocate for policies that affect businesses, employees, and the broader economy.
HR Florida advocates met with legislators to discuss pending workplace bills, including:
- House Bill 1219/Senate Bill 922 (Noncompete Agreements Expansion): A proposal to modify requirements for noncompete agreements, potentially affecting workforce mobility and employer protections.
- House Bill 6033/Senate Bill 1672 (Repeal of the State Labor Pool Act): A measure that would eliminate outdated regulations governing temporary labor pools.
Beyond these bills, discussions covered a range of employment-related legislation, ensuring that policymakers heard directly from HR leaders about the potential impact on Florida’s workforce and employers.
