Courtney Barbour
Courtney Barbour is the Project Director of Training and Education at HealthNet, a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center committed to improving lives through compassionate healthcare and support services, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. In this role, she leads workforce development initiatives, including HealthNet’s Medical Assistant Training Program and Nurse Practitioner Post-Graduate Residency Program, partnering with clinical and operational leaders to build strong pipelines of highly trained healthcare professionals.
Courtney holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and has built a career that bridges human resources, operational excellence, and workforce development. Throughout her tenure at HealthNet, she has led numerous initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness, including streamlining workflows, automating manual processes, modernizing performance management systems, and digitizing onboarding and compliance tracking. One of her most impactful accomplishments was implementing a Medical Assistant training program for individuals from underserved communities. The program removes financial barriers by covering tuition costs, providing part-time employment during training, and creating a direct pathway to full-time careers in healthcare. Courtney was also selected as one of six participants in HealthNet’s inaugural CEO Mentorship Program, where she collaborated with fellow cohort members to launch the organization’s first Employee Assistance Fund to support employees experiencing financial hardship. At her core, Courtney is driven by a passion for serving others and creating meaningful opportunities for growth.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Courtney is deeply committed to serving urban youth through Young Life. For many years, she has served as a mentor and ministry leader for teens, leading Bible studies, and creating spaces where young people feel seen, supported, and encouraged to grow in their faith and purpose. This work has strengthened her belief in the power of mentorship and intentional leadership to shape lives and communities.
Being selected for the HR Tomorrow Leadership Program is both an incredible honor and an important step in Courtney’s professional journey. As an emerging HR leader, she is excited to deepen her expertise, expand her leadership capacity, and connect with a network of professionals who are committed to advancing the field of human resources. Courtney views this opportunity as a catalyst for continued growth and is eager to apply the knowledge and relationships gained through the program to further strengthen her organization, support her colleagues, and create lasting impact in the communities she serves.
