Job Summary:
The Automobile Service Station Manager will supervise all areas of service station operation including overseeing employee scheduling and performance, purchasing and receiving, and day-to-day tasks related to automobile filling, maintenance, and repair services.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Hires and trains employees.
- Oversees the day-to-day workflow and assignments of service staff.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversees and when necessary may perform customer service functions including pumping gasoline, checking fluid levels, washing windshields, and scheduled maintenance.
- Supervises and when necessary assists with administrative services related to automobile repairs; tasks may include preparing cost estimates for customers, notifying customers of preventive and scheduled maintenance, and making repairs within skill level.
- Reconciles operating accounts and records including reconciling sales with cash and receipts.
- Drafts and maintains operating reports as requested by the district manager.
- Monitors inventory, and orders supplies, tools, and gasoline for the station.
- Schedules and arranges necessary maintenance for the service station.
- Creates promotional materials and advertisements.
- Ensures that the service station is neat, clean, and safe.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent managerial and leadership skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prepare operating reports and to reconcile sales records.
- Extensive knowledge of automobile repair with ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- At least one year of related experience working in a service station required; three or more years of experience preferred.
- Completion of a mechanic training program accredited by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation or equivalent is desired.
Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to gasoline vapors and other automobile fluids.
- Must be able to lift and move 25 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and stretch to perform automobile inspection and repair.
- Must be able to handle tools required to perform automobile repair.
- May be required to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
