Job Summary:
The Director of Computer Education will plan, develop, organize, and implement computer instruction curriculum and programming for the school district.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Depending on educational program size and infrastructure, may oversee program instructors and support staff.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Analyzes current curriculum; develops, designs, or modifies program to ensure the school districts computer education needs are being met.
- Facilitates implementation of school programs and plans for computers and computer education.
- Drafts and/or collects appropriate resource and instructional materials.
- Demonstrates and trains instructors on best practices and methods for teaching students to use computers for specified fields and tasks.
- Coordinates, develops, and/or conducts in-service activities.
- Remains current on trends and developments in educational technologies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficient, and/or able to gain proficiency, in software to be used and taught within the education program.
- Thorough understanding of best practices in education.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in related field required; Masters degree highly preferred.
- State teachers certification required.
- At least three years of classroom teaching experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
