Job Summary:

The Mathematician will use computational techniques and theories to analyze data and solve problems to support and improve company business decisions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Collaborates with engineers, clients, and other staff to identify the specific problem; implements mathematical theories and techniques to solve or work toward a solution.
• Develops and uses various computational methods to solve engineering problems.
• Creates statistical or mathematical models to use in analyses or computer modeling simulations.
• Collects and analyzes data to identify trends and relationships.
• Prepares and presents research results to engineers, managers, and clients.
• Reviews and analyzes the security of data and related systems and networks.
• Maintains current knowledge of emerging industry or technology trends by participating in professional conferences, maintaining relationships with other mathematicians, and reading professional journals.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough understanding of mathematics and theoretical mathematics especially as they relate to problems associated with engineering.
• Thorough understanding of basic principles of engineering.
• Ability to evaluate and analyze data.
• Excellent deductive reasoning skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to use computer code and modeling to solve problems.
• Extremely proficient with analytical and scientific software.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Mathematics or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
• At least two years working with applied mathematics in relation to engineering preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
