Job Summary:
The Public Information Representative will serve as a liaison between the organization and the public to maintain a positive image of the organization.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Promotes the organizations public image through interactions with business, industry, and local leaders.
- Schedules public events such as speaking engagements and facilities tours.
- Writes, reviews, and/or distributes press releases and other public-facing communication pieces.
- Prepares and posts external, public-facing communication for social media and other online platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and industry forums.
- Prepares and distributes public outreach mailings such as holiday cards, magazines, brochures, newsletters, and similar efforts.
- Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with members of the media and with local civic organizations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to write in a journalistic style that is customary for external publications.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field required.
- Prior experience in public relations, communication, or related field preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
