Job Summary:
The Staff Psychologist will be responsible for providing family, individual, and group therapy; conducting psychological testing and evaluation of residents; and monitoring treatment-planning efforts.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises interns working on the treatment units.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides family, individual, and group therapy.
- Conducts psychological testing and evaluations of residents.
- Participates, facilitates, and documents the treatment-review team process in concert with the Director of Professional Services.
- Monitors treatment-planning efforts on residential units, in shelters, and in community-based programs in concert with the Director of Professional Services.
- Acts as a treatment and child-care resource person for line staff in residential, shelter, and community-based programs. Monitors case records to ensure quality and professionalism.
- Attends residential, shelter, and community-based programs.
- Acts as a resource person to the educational department.
- Attends court hearings at the request of the Director of Professional Services.
- Provides weekly reports of feedback and observations to the Director of Professional Services.
- Conducts ongoing needs assessment for staff-training purposes and assists in the implementation of in-service training programs.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Highly developed ability in the administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological tests, specifically objective, projective, and neurological test batteries.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated skill in clinical interviewing.
- Demonstrated ability in group therapy, group management, individual therapy, and family counseling.
- Excellent supervisory skills to oversee the work of interns and staff assigned to the psychology lab.
- Demonstrated skills in consultation and the ability to work as part of a team.
Education and Experience:
- A Master's degree in psychology required, a PhD preferred.
- Experience in the human services field required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting of at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
