Job Summary:
The Supervisor of Forklift Services will oversee and coordinate forklift truck services for the operational and service departments of the facility.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Interviews and hires forklift truck operators and coordinates their training.
- Oversees the daily workflow, shift assignments, and staffing of the forklift services and repair department.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Reviews daily production schedules to forecast forklift truck operator needs.
- Prepares and distributes operator assignments based on daily production schedules.
- Coordinates with supervisors in receiving, shipping, and warehouse departments to provide additional, timely forklift operation services.
- Routinely observes forklift operation throughout facility for safety and adherence to performance standards.
- Ensures that drivers complete all required preoperational checks and post-shift reports.
- Schedules and/or arranges for maintenance and repair of forklift trucks.
- Maintains inventory of forklift parts and supplies.
- Requests and facilitates purchase of additional and replacement forklift trucks to meet the operational needs of the facility.
- Leads periodic safety meetings; ensures compliance with applicable safety standards, regulations, and policies.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of forklift truck operations, procedure, and policies.
- Basic computer skills to maintain inventory and reports.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school training preferred.
- Mechanic training preferred.
- Experience as a forklift truck driver with a clean operation record required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds safely.
- 20/20 corrected vision and normal hearing range.
- Good eye/hand coordination and good motor skills.
