Leaders Discuss Optimism in the Face of Adversity at the SHRM21 Annual Conference & Expo; Announce SHRM22 in New Orleans
Las Vegas – The SHRM21 (the Society for Human Resource Management) Annual Conference & Expo explored the power of optimism today virtually and in-person with Life is Good Co-Founder and Chief Executive Optimist Bert Jacobs at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Jacobs discussed the importance of optimism over adversity, detailing how a culture of optimism can fuel innovation, risk-taking, and growth in the face of hard times.
"The number one thing you have to bring to your office and organization is love—what you love and what you stand for," said Jacobs. "Life is not easy. Life is not perfect. But Life is Good."
A culture of optimism is needed now more than ever as new SHRM research indicates that positive organizational culture keeps employees engaged while increasing business value and job performance—but more than half of the people managers (57%) and HR professionals (62%) surveyed agree that it has been difficult to maintain that culture during the pandemic.
Throughout the conference, SHRM also released research on important workplace topics including Employee Benefits , DEI, and the Great Resignation.
Additional key sessions from today included Latinx: What Next?, with a discussion on the changing workforce and the new priorities facing talent leaders, as well as a session focusing on unlocking the potential of financial wellness benefits.
The SHRM21 Annual Conference & Expo officially came to a close today with the announcement that the next SHRM Annual Conference & Expo, SHRM22, will be held in New Orleans, as HR professionals come together once more to create better workplaces for a better world.
