EEOC and DOJ Clarify DEI Workplace Protections
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) have released two technical assistance documents: “What You Should Know About DEI-Related Discrimination at Work” and “What To Do If You Experience Discrimination Related to DEI at Work.” These resources aim to provide guidance on identifying and addressing workplace discrimination related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. They outline the steps involved in filing an EEOC claim and offer practical examples to help employees and employers understand their rights and obligations.
While these documents do not establish new legal rights or causes of action, they serve to clarify existing protections under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and reinforce how anti-discrimination laws apply in the workplace.
