SHRM Is Taking the Windy City by Storm
Conference offers something for everyone, whether you’re already SHRM-certified or just looking to brush up on some HR skills
The SHRM Annual Conference & Expo 2024 (SHRM24) is shaping up to be a great professional development, networking, and entertainment conference—likely one of the largest gatherings of HR professionals in one place in SHRM’s history. What better time to join colleagues who want to learn, grow, and go further in their careers?
SHRM24, taking place June 23-26 in Chicago and virtually, features over 320 speakers and 375 educational sessions on 12 content tracks. Come prepared to hear the compelling messages from great speakers on the Main Stage and learn from a wide variety of concurrent session, seminar, and workshop speakers as they cover every aspect of the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge (SHRM BASK). You also don’t want to miss the award-winning entertainers: comedy and TV legend Jay Leno and chart-topping singer and daytime TV host Kelly Clarkson as our Tuesday Night Entertainment! SHRM-certified professionals will earn 28 professional development credits (PDCs) for attending SHRM24; SHRM will add your PDCs to your recertification record about 30 days after the conclusion of the conference.
First-time attendees will want to add the conference orientation to their calendar because it provides an all-important overview of the conference and highlights the can’t-miss opportunities that await them. Held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, right before the opening general session, this overview session provides valuable insights to help first-time attendees understand the scope of the conference and discover how to navigate the venue to leverage their time to learn, connect, and explore the Expo Hall.
After Sunday’s general session with Emmy Award-winning actor, comedian, writer, and director Jason Sudeikis, the Expo opens at 4:30 p.m. Carve out time to connect with service providers and vendors representing every aspect of HR. The Expo is also open on Monday and Tuesday; boxed lunch is served on Monday and Tuesday so attendees can grab something to eat while you continue to explore. The Expo is the largest HR solutions center in the world. It will feature more than 650 cutting-edge companies displaying and selling the latest HR products and services, including those related to business acumen and HR strategy; employee relations; employment law and legislation; global HR; health, wellness, and safety; leadership and skill development; talent acquisition and retention; HR technology; total rewards; and much more.
SHRM also offers SHRM-CPs and SHRM-SCPs two exclusive opportunities to connect with other SHRM-certified professionals while in Chicago. On Sunday, the SHRM Certification Lounge will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Also open on Monday and Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., the lounge provides a place for SHRM-certified professionals to unwind, grab a snack or drink, recharge their cellphones and social batteries, and learn about a wide variety of recertification options. Outside the lounge, attendees who are interested in learning about becoming SHRM-certified can talk with the SHRM Certification team; the Prometric team, who can help with scheduling a testing appointment; and the SHRM Learning System team, who will be offering demonstrations of the SHRM Learning System and other study options.
Additionally, the SHRM Certification Lounge is where SHRM-CPs and SHRM-SCPs will check in to receive wristbands for Monday’s exclusive evening event for SHRM-certified professionals. The Certified Good Time Party will be hosted at one of Chicago’s most vibrant restaurants, Carnivale. Wristbands will be provided at the lounge on a first-come, first-served basis due to limited availability, and transportation to the party is provided! Stop by the SHRM Certification Lounge on Sunday or Monday to obtain final details about logistics.
We hope you have already made plans to attend SHRM24 and be part of this once-in-a-lifetime event. If not, there’s still time! Register online today—and we’ll see you in Chicago or virtually!
