Job Summary:
The Environmental Engineering Technician will assist Environmental Engineers with equipment testing and laboratory work related to prevention, control, and remediation of environmental pollution.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Sets up, tests, and decontaminates assigned equipment.
- Performs assigned laboratory work including preparing samples, recording test results, and recording numerical and visual observations.
- Conducts pollution surveys by analyzing air and groundwater samples.
- Maintains records in project logs and electronic databases.
- Schedules the removal and disposal of lead, asbestos, and other hazardous materials.
- Monitors assigned facilities to assess and ensure compliance with regulations related to asbestos, lead, and other contaminants.
- Assists with the development of environmental/pollution remediation devices.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive applied knowledge of environmental engineering science.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Extensive knowledge of techniques, procedures, and equipment used to prevent and control environmental contamination.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree in Environmental Science or related field required, Bachelors degree preferred.
- Two years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse various types of terrain to collect air and groundwater samples.
