Almost half of organizations (45%) offer undergraduate or graduate tuition assistance, a slight decrease compared with last year. Student loan repayment assistance also decreased to 8%, down 1 percentage point from last year. Interestingly, the average maximum education assistance amount that organizations offer to employees (inclusive of both tuition assistance and student loan repayments) stayed nearly the same, up only $50 to $5,372. This remains above the $5,250 tax-free limit, albeit only slightly. Amid continued increases in higher education costs, it’s possible organizations are trying to boost their aid packages in an attempt to address the needs of their employees.
