DOL Launches Opinion Letter Program for Employers
The Department of Labor (DOL) launched a new opinion letter program across five key agencies to support employer compliance with federal labor laws.
Among these agencies, the Wage and Hour Division will issue opinion letters, while the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will provide letters of interpretation. The Employee Benefits Security Administration will offer advisory opinions and information letters.
These documents will provide employers official interpretations of the law’s implementation based on real-world scenarios submitted by individuals or organizations. They seek to help clarify how labor laws apply, promoting greater transparency and consistency.
