SHRM Government Affairs: 100 Days of Impact
In just the first 100 days of the president’s second term, SHRM Government Affairs made bold strides in elevating the voice of HR, strengthening relationships with policymakers, and shaping the national conversation on the future of work.
Engaging at the Highest Levels
SHRM leadership held strategic meetings with top federal decision-makers, including leadership at the U.S. Department of Labor, the Small Business Administration and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as well as senior members of Congress. These conversations centered on workforce development, the responsible use of AI, and building inclusive workplaces.
Coast-to-Coast Advocacy: Four Hill Days
SHRM is harnessing the full strength of the HR profession to shape workplace policy where it matters most—directly with lawmakers. Through a series of advocacy days in state legislatures and in Washington, D.C., SHRM brought the voice of HR directly to policymakers. SHRM members and affiliates united to advance real-world solutions on issues like AI, caregiving, and tax reform—showcasing the growing influence of the HR profession in shaping workplace policy at every level of government.
Policy Innovation on Capitol Hill
SHRM launched its first-ever HR Policy Boot Camp on Capitol Hill, bringing together SHRM executives and senior policymakers to explore how AI is reshaping work, spotlighting new HR research, and reinforcing SHRM’s role as a trusted thought leader in workforce policy.
Amplifying the HR Voice in Government
SHRM supported testimony before state and federal legislative bodies, including the House Committee on Education and Workforce, the House Subcommittee on Workforce Protections, and the California State Assembly — positioning HR at the center of critical policy debates.
Over 150 High-Impact Policymaker Connections
In just 100 days, SHRM has engaged in more than 150 substantive meetings with lawmakers and executive branch officials, further cementing our influence and ensuring that the needs of HR professionals and the workforce are front and center in policy decisions.
Driving Member Engagement Nationwide
SHRM launched a “First 100 Days” hub and hosted bipartisan webcasts that reached over 170,000 registrants. These events featured former members of Congress, a compelling open letter to policymakers, and a video message from SHRM leadership — while extending A-Team benefits to all of SHRM’s nearly 340,000 members.
From boardrooms to hearing rooms, SHRM is working to build better workplaces and a better world — one policy win at a time.
An organization run by AI is not a futuristic concept. Such technology is already a part of many workplaces and will continue to shape the labor market and HR. Here's how employers and employees can successfully manage generative AI and other AI-powered systems.
