Job Summary:
The Chemical Process Technician will mix, monitor, test, and balance a variety of chemicals according to specified procedures and protocols.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs all steps necessary to maintain correct chemical balance or material mixture needed to support proper equipment operation, product quality, or other chemical needs.
- Conducts chemical process tests, taking and measuring samples at specified intervals and stages.
- Manages, mixes, and stores all compounds and chemicals in a safe and efficient manner.
- Safely maintains and stores all relevant tools, instruments, measuring devices, and equipment to ensure proper function.
- Adheres to applicable EPA regulations for proper labeling and disposal of chemical compounds and waste.
- Maintains all records related to processes and chemicals used including material safety data sheets (MSDS) and equipment operation logs.
- Identifies and reports problems and/or accidents to supervising chemist.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Detail-oriented and extremely accurate.
- Proficient understanding of mathematics.
- Ability to solve problems.
- Proficient with related computer software.
- Ability to read and understand manuals and maintain proper records.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma required; Associates degree highly preferred.
- At least one year of related training as chemical technician.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
