Job Summary:
The Director of Toxicological Research will lead and direct a wide range of toxicological research programs with emphasis on responses to environmental factors. The Director will also recruit talented scientists to participate in and to advance the program.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Defines and directs the long-range goals of the research program and operations.
- Provides strong leadership to the research staff.
- Promotes the mission of the research in the scientific community.
- Recruits talented researchers to join and enhance the program.
- Fosters an atmosphere that promotes creative productivity and scientific research.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- An extensive publication record of past research projects.
- Demonstrated excellent administrative and leadership abilities.
Education and Experience:
- M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree in an environmental health science discipline.
- Extensive experience with a variety of toxicological processes including genetics, immunology, neurobiology, and reproductive and developmental biology.
- Ten or more years of outstanding research performance.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
