Job Summary:
The Malpractice Claims Specialist will evaluate, investigate, and resolve malpractice claims and other disputes among insured parties and claimants.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Reviews malpractice claims and determines coverage, liability, and damages incurred by claimants.
- Communicates with the insured, claimants, witnesses, and experts to investigate and evaluate assigned claims and lawsuits.
- Consults with independent adjusters or appraisers as needed based on the facts of each claim.
- Negotiates and settles claims within limits of authority; when claims exceed settlement authority, provides guidance and recommendations to appropriate parties for review.
- Assists managers or attorneys with settlement of more complex cases.
- Processes settlements, ensuring inclusion of appropriate releases.
- Maintains accurate records and prepares required reports on all cases.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors degree preferred.
- At least two years of experience processing insurance claims required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
