Dan Purushotham, Ph.D. serves as adjunct faculty in the School of Business at Central Connecticut State University. Prior to entering the academic arena, he worked in several financial services organizations, the most recent being The Hartford Financial Services Group as Vice President, Corporate Compensation and Performance Management.
Purushotham helped launch the Colonial Total Rewards Association (CTRA) and has served as its co-president. This is an educational and professional development organization for total rewards professionals in Central Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. He is the past president of The Human Resources Association of Central Connecticut (HRACC), a chapter of SHRM.
Purushotham has led workshops and has been a speaker nationally and internationally on human resources-related topics. He is an instructor for the HR Management Certificate Program and for the WorldatWork’s certification program. He co-authored “Building Pay Structures”, a WorldatWork publication.
Purushotham is a 2013 recipient of the University of Hartford’s Alumni Association’s Anchor Award, presented to alumni for their professional accomplishments. He is also a recipient of the American Compensation Association's (WorldatWork) Lifetime Achievement Award.
Among the not-for-profit boards he currently serves on, are the Charter Oak College Foundation, Southington Cheshire Community YMCA, and the American Red Cross Blood Services. His past board membership includes the Barney School of Business of the University of Hartford, WorldatWork, and the Conference Board’s Executive Compensation Management Council.
Purushotham holds an MBA and master’s degrees in psychology and industrial psychology and a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. His professional designations include WorldatWork’s Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and Certified Benefits Professional (CBP).
