Job Summary:
The Outplacement Counselor will assist recently terminated or displaced employees in creating a plan for finding new positions or careers. This may include evaluating interests and education, developing or updating resumes, and considering possible future employers.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assesses each persons abilities, skills, personality, and interests through the administration of objective assessment tests, interviews, and other methods.
- Analyzes test results and identifies roles and career paths that may be of interest and fit.
- Collaborates with and advises individuals on career and job areas and paths, explaining the entry requirements for each type of position.
- Assists with resumes, cover letters, writing samples, and other documentation related to the hiring process.
- Provides advice, guidance, and training on interviewing, offer negotiation, and related hiring strategies.
- Develops and maintains professional contacts that will be beneficial to individuals seeking new opportunities.
- Maintains knowledge of best practices and trends in recruiting and new career resources such as websites, networks, and publications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to counsel, coach, and interview with skill and success.
- Understanding of vocational assessment and counseling techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Psychology, Vocational Guidance, or Counseling; OR equivalent work experience required.
- At least two years as an outplacement counselor or job coach preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
