Job Summary:
The Photonics Technician will install and maintain optical or fiber optic equipment such as lasers, pulse generators, lenses, and microscopes.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assembles fiber optical components and subcomponents.
- Performs initial setup for and assembly of processing equipment including lasers, cameras, die bonders, wire bonders, temperature or humidity chambers, and/or optical spectrum analyzers.
- Maintains and adjusts optical equipment, which may include lasers, microscopes, oscilloscopes, pulse generators, and energy measurement devices.
- Performs and documents calibration procedures and diagnostic testing for optical and fiber optic equipment.
- Assists scientists and engineers in performing photonic experiments and developing new products, tools, and processes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive knowledge of optical and fiber optic equipment and installation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
- Two years of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to physically install optical or fiber optical equipment.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
